500 miles in 30 days · 19 March 2020

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

This first photo should have been what my graduation looked like, but it doesn’t. I shouldn’t need to edit photos of me today with my dad, but I do. 16 years today we shouldn’t have lost you, but we did. I wish I could change it but, once again, I can’t.

The sad truth is that we are not the only ones.

Each day you families, young children, young wives, husbands, parents lose a significant person in their life due to underlying heart conditions or unknown health conditions.

More needs to be done for this, to save at least one family from having to have a day like this.

My Dad passed away in his sleep 16 years ago from what today is still truly unknown, it was classed as sudden adult death syndrome. I was 5 years old at the time

To raise awareness for this, I have decided to turn a tragic day into one for doing good.

Every year over 500 people are affected by sudden adult death syndrome. For this I want to run, walk, cycle and maybe even crawl 1 mile for every person effected.

My target is to complete this in 1 month to today. That works out at roughly 16.2 miles a day for the next 31 days. 15 marathons in distance covered by the time I complete this

£50 will pay for one person to have a scan on their heart for any hidden issues and potentially save their lives. But it’s not just their life that is saved, but it is also the lives of their friends and family who won’t have a day like today is for me and ask what if.

If you’d like to help and support me on this journey, please follow the link to my just giving account.

Thank you,

Jac
