Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and my dad Robin will be attempting to scale Snowdon in Wales in support of Solving Kids' Cancer as they are offering incredible support to our family throughout my little cousin Stanley’s ongoing treatment.
When my cousin Sarah’s son Stanley turned 18 months old we were informed that a large tumour had developed in his stomach. Upon further diagnostic testing over the following week Stanley’s mum and dad were given the awful news that no parent should ever have to receive. Stanley was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma which is the most serious of cases and sadly means the cancer cells have spread throughout his body and are present in his liver, lungs and bone marrow.
Stanley is now staying on site at the internationally recognised Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he will be undergoing extensive treatment including high intensity chemotherapy, surgery, radiation treatment, and both immuno and vitamin therapy.
While our family are fighting this horrendous disease head on and remain positive that Stanley will battle through it, neuroblastoma does not respond to treatment in 20% of cases and there is a 60% relapse rate for those children where treatment has been successful. Me and my dad will be climbing Snowdon using the Snowdon Ranger Track as neither of us are experienced mountain climbers on the 30/09/2017. All money raised will be made available to Stanley if the treatment is not successful, or he requires further treatment in maintaining or getting back in to remission and the best options for him are not available on the NHS.
Stanley is a gorgeous little boy who is already amazing us all with his fighting spirit and joyful nature following his first nine rounds of chemo.
