I am doing a sponsored skydive on the 16th of September to raise money for Blenheim CDP. They work with people who suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction which is an extremely important cause to me.

Members of my family from both sides have suffered from these problems; and this lifestyle is likely what led to the premature death of my biological father last year and my grandfather years before that. The biggest struggle for these people is taking the first step to getting help and Blenheim is a charity that works with thousands on getting back on the right path. Not only does it work directly with the sufferers but also their family and friends who are affected by the problems that arise from substance abuse.

I was extremely lucky in the fact that the difficulties members of my family faced did not effect my upbringing as much as it could have but I know most people do not have that luxury. It is for that reason that I'm not just doing this in memory of my father and Grandfather but for the thousands of people that suffer from addiction directly and those that their lifestyle effects.

It can be beaten, but it takes help. My auntie suffered from alcoholism for many years but with the help of various support groups and charities she has been sober for over nearly 20 years now and I hope that the money I raise for Blenheim will lead to more successes like hers.
