The everyday heroes of the UK fire community face traumatic life and death situations. The Fire Fighters Charity is here to support them whether injured, ill or in need of psychological support.

Story

I have been a Fire Fighter in West Yorkshire for over 15 years and on the 14th May 2023 I have set myself the challenge of completing the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong health & wellbeing support for the UK fire & rescue community, empowering individuals and families to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. This includes serving and retired firefighters, control and support teams.

I have utilised the support they offer personally and as a massive Rugby League fan and someone raised in Leeds also, this seemed the perfect opportunity to give back to the charity. Training is well underway and despite the 'What on earth have I taken on!?' feelings occasionally I am determined to complete this challenge and I am looking forward to joining over 12 thousand others on the day!
