Story
So my challenge is to complete the 3 highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland all with in 24 hours starting with the march up and down Ben Nevis, then a drive to Scafell Pike to again march up and down, with a final drive to Snowdon, to complete the challenge when we have come back down to the bottom of the mountain. and this is why..........
In 2007 i had a car accident on the m5 motorway, my car caught on fire and I was badly burnt. I was taken to Exeter hospital, stabilized and put into an induced coma, then I was taken to Frenchay Bristol where I received medical care, after several operations and a week later I was able to be brought round, i continued having surgery and recovering in hospital for a further 3 weeks! After I left hospital I still had a long and difficult journey to recovery and many trips back to Bristol for scar management and further operations.
During this time I had the love and support of my family and friends everyday, this would not of been possible without the support from Dan's Fund for Burns charity!! They paid for my family to be able to travel the 200 mile round trip every day! Also giving my parents the emotional support needed to deal with what changes can come from such injuries in the long term, sometimes just being able to talk to someone About these things can be a gift in its self. They also bought me a laptop which allowed me to carry on the simple things that we all take for granted like writing a letter, it also allowed to me study a university course. Without them I truly believe my recovery would of be so much harder! They are all so supportive and you really feel like a big family! In 2013 I was honoured to be asked if I would be an ambassador for them, I of course accepted. This charity is amazing and I please ask people to go onto the website and read about how a wonderfully brave woman called Polly came to start it. Without charities like these we would not be able to have a NHS so equipped to deal with major burns injuries!! Support for people and there families with burns, from people who really do understand, burns survivors!!
Many thanks Jack Goswell
