4 × 4 × 48 hour · 6 March 2021

We want to raise awareness of male health issues. We want to gently persuade men to be more open and talk about health problems that may be concerning them. We want them to be aware of the 'male habits' that get in the way of change. We want to support other male health charities in their work.

Story

Jack Miles 4 X 4 X 48hr Challenge:

Story:

Although men’s mental & physical health continues to pose a serious threat, our society acts oblivious & they get overlooked

Recent research suggests that men go to the GP 75% less than women, with diseases such as Prostate & Testicular cancer, both having far higher survival rates the sooner diagnosed

In September 2013, after having fought a brain tumour for nine months, my beloved grandfather passed away after shrugging off various symptoms

I’m committing to this challenge not only in honour of my late grandfather, Harry, but for all the other men battling against mental and physical health

Personally, throughout the past 5 months, I felt my physical health was deteriorating. I felt anxious and scared and it took me weeks to feel comfortable reaching out to family and doctors. PLEASE, don't be embarrassed or uncomfortable doing so.

The Challenge:

This challenge has been set up by the world renowned ex-Navy seal and fitness fanatic, David Goggins

I take off on 6th of March at 4am & will run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours

Throughout the 48 hours, strict timing has to be followed. My strava account will be posted on this page for regular updates and to easily follow my progress

Ultimately, i'll be running 48miles in 48hours. Yes, its going to be dark & freezing

Every penny raised will be donated to the Blue Ribbon Foundation - a foundation which pays careful attention to male health & wellbeing.

My motive behind choosing this charity is because Blue Ribbon has realised the importance of men addressing issues which were once frowned upon no matter how big or small, whether it be mental or physical.

It has also been successful in changing the culture of men talking about their health.

With Thanks:

Thank you so much to those who have and continue to support me throughout this challenge and I hope to be able to make a difference in a small way
