My name is Jack Ross and I am a 19 year old aspiring Jazz musician from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. I begin my studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from September 2019 where I will be studying Jazz. I have accepted a place at the Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony in August 2019 where I will be one of only three students offered a place from the UK. This will be an incredible opportunity for me to experience a week of learning alongside some of the most talented young musicians globally and to be taught by some of the best musicians on the world. This once in a life time opportunity will take place at a highly respected Music Conservatoire, The University of the Pacific, California in August 2019.
I will need to raise money for the flights there are back and the course fees which total approximately £2650.
A bit about me...
I have aspired to be a successful musician since I first picked up a trumpet at the age of 8. Luckily for me my first music teacher was a great musician and teacher, Nick Care, who inspired me to play in bands and play exciting music. I attended a primary school in Aylesbury where there were also very influential music teachers and I soon became part of the schools jazz band, wind band, rock band and choir. My love of music and playing the trumpet continued as I joined Aylesbury Music Centre and progressed my way through brass bands and junior jazz bands until I got my seat in the multi award winning AMC Big Band at the age of 15.
I perform and rehearse with the NYJO Academy Big Band directed by Sebastian De Krom and NYJO London directed by Phil Meadows every Saturday since September 2017. I hope to progress to the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in the near future.
Any donations large or small will be greatly appreciated and will be solely used to fund this once in a life time opportunity.
