York Inflatable 5k Team OSCAR's · 18 June 2022 ·

OSCAR's PBTC was set up in memory of Oscar Hughes, a 9-year-old who died of a brain tumour in 2014. His journey was heartbreaking yet inspiring. OSCAR's aims to provide support and care to children with brain tumours, raise awareness to help diagnosis and fund research into better treatments.

Story

Hello! I am Jack, a friend & neighbour of Oscar, Ian & Milo.

Me & Oscar grew up playing in the street, we would play games of football, ride the scooters / bikes or have snow ball fights in Decembers & Januarys.

Playing football is and was a challenge on our end of the street as one of the opposite neighbours simply could not and still cannot stand it! As soon as the ball was kicked a little too hard by mistake onto sed drive or garden - Mission was on to retrieve it! (This of course did not always work as we were only young & consequently did not know the definition of silent and sneaky!)

Oscar to put it into perspective was amazing, he was always up for playing out and having fun - During the time we were studying in primary, we made countless memories and he will always be remembered by myself, and my family.

Ian was a fantastic father figure and he really knew how to get you to push your limits in football! He was a lovely person and I respect him highly.

Milo, a motivated young boy. I unfortunately only met him, once or twice but he simply was a boy who certainly kept on pushing and making the closest people around him smile and laugh.

I hope to raise my target in honour of Oscar, Ian & Milo.

Thanks for taking the time to read,

Jack
