#Teammencap - Take on the challenge of running 26.2 miles for people with a learning disability. The money raised will help people with a learning disability get the best opportunities out of life.

Story

Jack is 25 years old and autistic – he lives semi-independently and has  16 hours care a week.  Mencap has supported him over the years and due to this it has enabled him to become far more independent and increasingly confident with life.  He loves his own company, his dog Molly, riding and looking after his horse Lucy - but over the last couple of years he has found that running is something that he really enjoys and is really good at.  We jokingly refer to him now as “forest gump” he just goes on and on, and annoyingly he never looks tired!!!  Recently he said he wanted to join our local Running Club and has surprised us all by looking forward to going each week, and loves it.

His brother Ben ran the London Marathon in 2015 to
raise money for Mencap and it was soon after this that Jack became serious with his running and last year decided he wanted to do the same too.

One thing Jack struggles with is people, he likes them but
only on his terms and certainly no more than a few at any one time, even if he knows them well.  So as you can imagine running
the marathon with thousands of people he doesn’t know will very much be out of his comfort zone – so Ben has volunteered to run again as his carer.

Without Mencaps support over the years Jack would never be the
happy and confident young man that he is today - please help him to raise money for this fantastic Charity so it can help other young people like Jack to get the most out of their lives too!!

Thank you for your support.
