Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Jack and I am 11 years old. On the 2nd of July this year my mum took me to hospital because I was struggling to breathe and had lost over 2 stone in a short space of time. I was taken straight to intensive care as my body was shutting down. The doctors told me I have type 1 diabetes. I stayed in ICU for a few days then on to a ward to learn how to inject myself and check my blood sugar levels. I now have to inject insulin before I eat or drink anything. I have to be careful when I exercise as it will drop my blood sugar levels which is dangerous and could lead to a coma if not dealt with quickly. Despite this I want to take part in the ONE FUN RUN for JDRF who are trying to find a cure for type 1.
