Sadly, Dad passed away on the night of 10th of April. He wrote the following to tell you of his story and why he wanted to do this fundraiser. Thank you for your generous donations. 

My name is Michael and I was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in February 2020. It was too late for curative surgery as the cancer had spread so I went on to palliative treatment. I started with Chemotherapy which really helped control the cancer and was a positive in an otherwise very difficult year.

Unfortunately, in October, we discovered the Cancer had spread to my brain and I required emergency treatment with steroids and radiotherapy. More recently we learned it was in my Liver requiring more Chemotherapy which I am currently undergoing. 

Throughout this time it has been incredibly important to have people to talk to and Force have been instrumental in providing this support, keeping their services accessible through the current restrictions. They offer a huge range of services to people and families suffering with cancer in Exeter and the surrounding area. More details can be seen on their website: https://forcecancercharity.co.uk

Me and my son Jack have set up this Fundraising page to acknowledge this support and aid them in their ongoing work. 

[EDIT - The Ultra Marathon originally planned in Snowdonia was postponed due to you-know-what so I've taken on a different more local challenge]

Jack will be running an Ultra Marathon on Dartmoor. The idea of the Ultra is to run to every Tor that is over 500m above sea level. That's 52 Tors with a distance of about 105km (65miles) and about 2500m elevation. Jack will run this in one day and aim to try and take the record for it, attempting to beat a time of 15hours 56mins.
