At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My grandmother, Mary Bertram, passed away in December after a long and exhausting fight against Alzheimer's. She had a wicked sense of humour and a mischievous smile. This picture is of her, me, and my niece Molly - Mary's first great-grandchild. We'll all miss her.

I'm running the Barcelona Marathon in March - I hope the weather won't be too horrible - and will be running in aid of the Alzheimer's Society in their efforts to help people with this cruel disease.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support!

Update 15/1: Thanks so much everyone for being so generous. In light of the great response so far I'm now hoping I can raise £2000. Update 4/3: Well, I finished! Very hot and tough towards the end, but completed in 3 hours 42 minutes. Thank you so much for all contributions and for helping me past my fund-raising target. Any further contributions are also very gratefully received.
