We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

Thank you for visiting this memory page and for supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity in honour of our beautiful son Jack.

Jack was a happy, sweet, smiley little boy who brought so much joy into our lives. He packed a lot into his short life, experiencing both his first Christmas and Birthday, particularly enjoying his cake and jelly. He explored the hills of Tuscany and the beaches of the French Riviera but preferred trips to see his grandparents where he was spoilt rotten! A gentle, social, lovable lad, Jack loved playdates with his little pals, wrestles with Daddy and cuddles with Mummy. These are memories we will always treasure.

Sadly, after a healthy first year of life, Jack fell ill at the end of February 2011. Following the heart breaking diagnosis of POLG/Alpers Syndrome he passed away on the 29th March, in Intensive Care at GOSH.

We would like to thank all our friends and family who have sent well wishes, cards, candles, letters, trees and flowers.  We were overwhelmed by the attendance at Jack's funeral and want to thank those who have continued to support us since our loss.

We set up a memory page as many of our friends and family expressed an interest in donating both now and in the future, via sporting challenges and personal businesses. This memory page will always remain here. Therefore, no matter what, when or where the event, the fantastic work at GOSH can be supported in Jack's memory.

Your donation will make a real difference to help sick children and their families. We have requested that half of the funds raised in Jack's memory go toward research into Mitochondrial Diseases which currently includes research into improving diagnosis and investigation of treatment.

When we first started fundraising we set a target of £10,000 by Jack's 1st Angelversary.  This matched the number of hours he was with us.  We are delighted to have exceeded this target and are now well over £30,000.  We could not have achieved this without the help of our friends, family and the kindness of strangers.

Thank you!
