Support our School by Sponsoring me in a round the Isle of Wight Walking Challenge
I am taking part in the two-day Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge walking event on 29th and 30th April. The total distance to be covered over the two days is 106km and I hope to complete it in approximately 20 hours.
I have been a Governor at Newdigate for more than 15 years and a village resident for more than 25 years and am a keen supporter of the school, all three of our children were pupils whilst growing up in the village.
As a member of the school’s Financial Management team, I am very aware of the financial difficulties being faced by all schools during the current energy and cost of living crises. As a church school we are allocated Government funding, via the Diocese, to carry out building and larger maintenance works on the school premises, but Governors are required to provide 10% of the costs of any projects undertaken to access our allocation. If we don’t have the Governors Funds available such projects simply can’t happen.
In the past we have relied upon the generosity of the village through activities such as the annual Rectory Fete to raise Governor Funds to support the school, but since COVID these haven’t taken place. We currently have an allocation of funding which we could use to carry out works to our heating system, amongst other things, to make it more efficient and save on our astronomical heating bills. I am, therefore, hoping to raise money for Governors Funds, so that some of these vital projects may be undertaken.
