A Trio of challenges for our Trio - in memory of Vanessa

Vanessa loved walking with hubby George and her friends.  Despite her cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment over the last 2 years she enjoyed nothing more than getting out in the fresh air.

Vanessa never lost her spirit and enjoyed everything about being outdoors, appreciating nature and the benefits it gave her throughout her treatment.   She loved discovering the “5km your way” initiative and as a practice nurse she wanted to support raising awareness and giving others confidence to give it a go. Sadly, she only returned to work briefly in January however, in this time shared with colleagues how amazing the group was and how the surgery should get involved.   She attended and walked Preston 5km your way only weeks before she died this February at the time not knowing how unwell she really was… this was how determined Vanessa was!

I am writing this on behalf of and in memory of Vanessa, as a nurse too she inspired me and know she would love that we were promoting 5km your Way in her memory.  So Vanessa’s daughter Michelle, friend Jo and I like to get ourselves out and about and set little challenges.  What better way for our trio to combine all these things for Vanessa!   To do what Vanessa loved most in her memory & at the same time to do what she wanted and raise awareness of the help and support available.   We also hope to raise funds in her memory and on behalf of Vanessa, her family and friends say thank you to the services for the support she received during her care and treatment at Rosemere Cancer & St Catherine’s Hospice.

Over the next 3 months we will undertake 3 challenges “a trio for our trio”  in her memory and would love you to join us in any way you can & perhaps join us in the 1st walk next week.

Saturday 26th March -  join us to walk 5km as part of the Preston Move more for Cancer 5km your Way.  This is a free event.  We will meet near Avenham cafe 8.45am, you can walk, jog or just cheer us on and join us for a brew after!

Saturday 23rd April - we will light the night from Chorley Hospital to Royal Preston as part of the Rosemere Walk in the Dark event.  We will join others setting off at 8pm.  You can join this walk too. Details to join the walk can be found here:

https://rosemere.org.uk/walk-in-the-dark-2022

We will then complete our final challenge by running Manchester 10km on 22 May 2022 - we will run with Vanessa in our hearts all the way to the finish line!

We would love you to join if you can at Avenham next week you just turn up.

If you would like to donate to these amazing local charities dear to Vanessa’s heart then you can do so on the attached links below in her memory and maybe even get out and about in the fresh air and think about how Vanessa would love that too!

Thank you - with  Vanessa in our heart from our Trio
