Story
Laura, Emma and I have been taking part in the brain tumour research charity’s ‘walk 10000 steps a day in February’ challenge in memory of Willie and to show support for Willie Cannon.
We want to raise awareness of glioblastoma and the lack of funding which is put in to searching for a cure for brain tumours:
- The average glioblastoma survival time is 12-18 months.
- Only 25% of patients survive more than one year and only 5% of patients survive more than five years.
- Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
- Brian tumours kill more children than leukaemia, kill more women under the age of 35 than breast cancer and kill more men under the age of 70 than prostate cancer.
- Since 2002, only 1% of total national cancer research funding has been allocated to brain tumours.
We’ve only got a one day left of our challenge and would love to raise some money for brain tumour research in the hope that patients can have better outcomes after diagnosis.
Sep by step, together we will find a cure.
