I have been incredibly lucky in life, have recently started commuting on a bicycle and have been inspired by the success story of Afrikids.

The charity employs a simple model where work is entirely led by local staff who are in a position to empower their communities to make sustainable changes themselves. Afrikids operates in northern Ghana, where more than half of all families live in poverty and require support to give their children the protection, healthcare and education that I have taken for granted throughout my life.

Afrikids has a proven track record and has won a variety of awards for effective fund raising and organisation. Most recently the Bond International Development Humanitarian Award (2018) and the Charity Times – International Charity of the Year.

My sister, Isla, works for AfriKids and has witnessed first hand the fantastic work which the charity does helping local communities to help themselves.
