Story
-THANKYOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE DONATED SO FAR-
If this is your first visit to this page, I hope you will be able to support me! On 6th-14th November 2004, I am leaving the comforts of home to trek the Sahara in aid of the RSPCA with a few other strangers, our Berber guides and a small caravan of camels. The trek will be over 100 km in 6 days taking me through the varied landscape of stony flat expanses to perfect wind blown sand dunes in temperatures which drop to below freezing at night and yet scorching hot during the day. I will need to undertake some training in order to be able to take on this challenge.
I am doing the challenge to raise funds for something that I am passionate about- helping to protect animals from cruelty. Very few people actually know that there are over 110,000 cruelty complaint investigations in the UK each year. I aim to raise £2,500 by the end of my trip.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RSPCA - will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The RSPCA is leading the way in animal welfare, by rescuing, rehoming, caring for animals and prosecuting those who have broken the law. It is not government funded and receives no money from the lottery.
If you do not want to donate online you can send your donation by cheque made payable to- RSPCA, to the address below. I am very grateful for your sponsorship and many thanks for your support! You're all gems! Jackbfoxall@hotmail.com 1, Welland Place, Ely, Cambridge. CB6 2WE ____________________________________________________ News about my preparations and fundraising: Friends, family and colleagues have all been fantastic in helping me reach my target. I recently held a raffle at work at raised a further £273 off- line. The star prize was a flying lesson donated by Mid-Anglia School of Flying. Other prizes included a limousine ride, healthspa vouchers, champagne, whisky, cinema tickets and a house plant arrangement. I appeared in the Ely Standard and the Cambridge Evening News (Newmarket and Ely) on 12th August. Lots of cheesy pictures of me with animals, atlases and RSPCA attire! I am currently hoping to get equipment donated from local outdoor activity outlets. I need a fair amount of equipment suited to the desert environment. I am also now running three times a week and am planning some long coastal walks for October!! Along with my Lonely planets and Arabic phrasebooks there is lots of research to be done too! ____________________________________________________
