Story
The Mental Health Cause
We can all just have those days where our hair just won't stay put no matter how hard we try. Just as much as we can have a bad hair day, we can have a bad "head day".
The past year (and more) has pushed people closer to the edge with their mental health. Being apart from friends and family has been a huge challenge, even for people that previously considered their mental health as strong or thought themselves resilient.
Mental Health is something that is close to my heart on a number of levels. Both myself, close friends and family have been on journeys for a range of issues, even before COVID-19 rocked up, and the support we have received from each other and services have been a huge help.
That is why I am fundraising for Mind.
They provide support, help and information for those in need or close ones of those who do. They also raise and sustain awareness of mental health through campaigns and provide professional training to "help bring about real change, end discrimination and promote good mental health for all".
How am I fundraising you ask?
With what seems to be the now "traditional" lockdown hair growth, my head of hair is now longer than I think I have ever had it. I've not had a haircut since 14th September 2020 (and that was very minimal) so the luscious locks have continued to grow and grow.
Well then... what better way to celebrate the coming end of lockdown, highlight the bad days that those with mental health can have and hopefully tempt you to donate by having all of that glorious mane shaved off. Yes, when I reach my target of £1000 then I will shave my head of hair off. As an extra incentive, when I reach £500, I will have my legs waxed. A doubly bad hair day!
There'll also be little things I'll be doing to tempt you to donate and hopefully help me reach my goal and I'll also be posting updates as and when I can; So I'll be in touch when/where appropriate.
COVID-19 is here to stay as are the issues with and surrounding mental health, so I hope you can make a donation. Your reason can be anything, from:
- Supporting the Mind charity and cause
- Celebrating the coming end of lockdown
- Just because you really want to see me with a shaven/bald head or,
- Any other reason you so desire.
Many thanks,
