Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks very much for stopping by my fundraising page! This year, I’m running the London Marathon on behalf of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and my goal, is to raise a grand total of £2,500.

The BHF is a charity close to both mine and my family’s hearts (pardon the pun). Today, 7.6 million people in the UK suffer from heart and circulatory disease, and very sadly, my Grandad was one of those people. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK alone, and it’s only thanks to support from people like us that they can create new treatments and discover new cures.

A bit about me. Whilst I never used to love running, I decided to give it a go to fill up my time at the start of the first COVID-19 lockdown. But, I quickly found out I wasn’t as fit as I once was when I couldn’t even finish a 5K without stopping to catch my breath. Turns out I’d put on more weight that I had realised over the last few years.

Now, a year on and 3 stone lighter, I have made huge progress and I am extremely close to breaking the 20 min barrier for my 5K's. I’ve even been doing a half marathon each month before an injury curtailed my progress. This has been very frustrating but I’ve also been pleasantly surprised to realise that I actually enjoy running now! I am really looking forward to getting back into my training schedule and running the marathon, which has been something I've always wanted to do, but never thought I'd get the chance!

I haven't set myself a time target (yet!), but this isn’t my focus. For me, what’s important is giving something back to the BHF with your help so any donations you can give would be well received and I’ll do my best to make it across the finish line in return.

Cheers!
