Story
For many families taking on the challenge of genetic disease, the past year has been a huge test. My brother has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which meant that we had to stop his carers coming in, move in with him, and lock the doors from April til Christmas; the only way to stay safe. It highlights how important it is for us to pour our support into the pioneering research that is making huge steps forward in treating these complex diseases. With some of these treatments and therapies, life will become much easier for those with DMD, and the outcomes will also have benefits for a wide variety of similar conditions.
I am running the Great North Run to raise money specifically for the research going into DMD, managed by the incredible charity Muscular Dystrophy UK. One of these projects I am particularly proud to support as I had a couple of years working on it, and excited to see it still moving forward.
As I have spent over a year not being able to get out and about, my fitness is returning at a very slow pace. My aim is to just get across that finish line, and every pound that my JustGiving amount increases will help me that little bit more, so please just give what you can!
