Story
My boy has been fighting for his life since day one. He was the baby that wasn't "supposed" to live - everything was against him from the beginning.
But Jacob is a fighter. He may look little but trust me, there is a warrior inside that little body.
Jacob's has very complex medical problems. He's been in and out of hospital all his life, prodded with needles, operated on more times than we care to remember and battles every single day with his conditions. His medications make him feel sick and tired and for 22 hours a day he is attached to machines.
One number I do know is 792 - that is the number of days he was in hospital during his longest stay at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. That's why my initial target is to raise £792 - although hopefully with your help I can smash that!
When Jacob was in RMCH for two-and-a-half years he had his own room on Ward 77 and the whole team there became family to me, Michaella and Jacob. "Our Family Caring For Yours" is the hospital's motto and we really know what that sentence means. They were, and still are, a family. We're all "One Big Family".
I'm not a runner, I'm not a fitness freak and I've never done a 10K before. But this year I'm doing the Great Manchester Run for Jacob. And no matter how hard it feels for me, I know Jacob has been through 10 times worse.
