Story
In October 2022, I will be running the London marathon on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.
Contributing to heart and circulatory diseases research is a cause that I deeply care about. My family has a history of heart disease: both of my grandfathers passed away due to heart problems before I could meet them. I am running in order to prevent the heartbreaks caused by witnessing our loved ones leave us long before their time.
Heart and circulatory diseases cause around a quarter of all deaths in the UK; that’s one death every three minutes. It is the world's biggest killer. The British Heart Foundation exists to fund research to keep your heart beating and blood flowing properly. Since they were founded, their research has helped to reduce deaths from heart and circulatory diseases by more than half. The tools we have at our disposal today – from heart transplants and pacemakers to stents and portable defibrillators – are all breakthroughs they have helped fund.
Perhaps a vision of a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases is utopic; however, I believe we should always shoot for the moon. After all, if we miss we'll land among the stars.
Thank you so much for your support!
