Story
I will be hiking 25km (hopefully!) on the South West Coast Path in August with my son Jake, to raise money to support the life-changing work done by Jamie's Farm.
I first volunteered at Jamie's Farm in 2013. It was a week that radically changed my perception of the challenges faced by many young people. I saw the impact of kindness, opportunity and support, even in the face of sometimes very challenging behaviours. The team at Jamie's Farm practise what they preach in terms of positive relationships, and the young people who stay at the farm see the impact of this.
The group that arrives at the start of the week are very different from the group that leaves at the end. They have had the opportunity to develop the language to express themselves and relationships with their teachers are often strengthened. A 'can't do' attitude is often changed to a 'can do', quite often to the surprise of the individual.
For all these reasons, I am very proud to be able to support Jamie's Farm in their transformative projects now and into the future.
