Story

50@50 " NO BIG PARTY "  .....although I'm sure there will be many cheers along the way....so for my 50th Year I am challenging myself to swim 50 km for Charity ... by taking part in four very different swim events.

I swim in memory of those loved and lost to the Cruel 'C'   with warm thoughts of my hugely missed parents who fought two very different battles with Cancer ... both supported by the Palliative Care Nursing team and the Bulstrode Oncology Unit.  The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief.💗

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Just a small donation will help me hit my 50 50 target ( £550 ) x

Swim One - Saturday 12th May  ' Very '  " Scilly Challenge "

Accompanied by my wonderful supportive friend, Jennifer Roussel  and her fins, gloves, booties & all. We  will embark on  a very 'Scilly'  out of comfort zone Challenge ....15kilometres of swimming & 10km of trekking to link together the Scilly Isles. Armed with minimal early season training , facing sea temperatures barely into double figures and having that FIFTY  feeling...where one tiny random movement or tying your shoe laces too quickly could result in serious injury...we  face the challenge of keeping warm, keeping sane and keeping going...a feat of mind, body and ( dover ) sole. 😉❄️

Swim Two - Friday 13th July " RIDE the TIDE " 🚲 v 🏊‍♀️🏊

Myself and Doric Steer will work as a team and attempt the 11kilometres crossing between Guernsey and Sark..We will race Graham Glass AKA Boaty Mc Bike Face  ....the adventure starting at St Martins Point...with the winner/s being the first team to pop open a bottle of champagne on the Coupee. The tides will be fast and furious and the challenge will be staying on course in the strong 9m Spring.

If you would like to donate for this event only please follow the link below to Graham's page raising funds for the Sarah Groves Foundation https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/boatymcbikefaceridethetide

Swim Three - Sunday 5th August  " The BIG 18:18 "

Along with Louise Smith, Lois Rawlings, Justine Riley & Sea Donkey himself 🐴 we will attempt to swim 18 kilometres in 18 hours. Starting in the early hours we will cross the little Russel by torch light (5km) ... followed by a bit of R&R we will circumnavigate Herm (7km ) and once the tides have turned in our favour we will attempt the return crossing landing at Salerie Corner ( 6km). This swim will challenge our stamina both mentally and physically and require real team work and planning...being made possible by our wonderful support crew. Along with the 19th August GSA EPIC Herm Swim ALL funds for this event will be split equally between The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief and This is EPIC. .🏝

Swim Four - Saturday 29th September " Hurly Burly " Curly Whirly

The cherry on the top of this seasons cake of swims will be enjoying the company of a great group of 25 fabulous GSA swimmers... we will have the pleasure of being tossed and turned up River Mawddach through the white waters of the Hurly Burly in Wales. 10 kilometres of whooshing and whirling. This will be another team effort ensuring that all swimmers reach the end destination ready for the celebrations. 🥂
