Swim22 2019
Campaign by Diabetes UK (RCN 215199)
Swim 22 miles, in 12 weeks in your local pool. Between 22 February and the 22 May swim the equivalent of the English Channel in your own time, at your own pace while getting sponsored for every length.

Story

I am a type 2 diabetic who challenged myself last year to swim 22 miles for diabetes and achieved my goal.  Swimming is one of the only exercises I can do as I have arthritis in my hips and knees and need two new hips. In the process last year I lost over 2 stone in weight and my blood sugar levels are now in the normal range.

My cover photo shows me last January before starting the swim and the second photo is me after I completed the last of my 22 mile swims.

This year I hope to swim the 22 miles quicker and by Christmas 2019 hope to be diabetic medication free as well as raise a lot of money for diabetes.
