Our year 8 students are focusing on raising funds for Alder Hey this year, and as an ex form tutor of this wonderful year group, I want to support their efforts. 

On a personal note, my sister is a paediatric nurse here and I couldn't do her job in a million years. My job is to teach the young and to help them to form their moral compass, her job is to save their lives in some cases and to make them physically better.

My own daughter was transferred to Alder Hey in April 2017 needing emergency surgery for a trauma to her mouth where we were told there was a possibility that she would need false teeth at the age of 7. A total freak accident with a trampoline and a washing line which made me almost faint when I saw the trauma. Yet, the Maxfax team managed to save her top two teeth which were actually pointing up towards the ceiling, to give her the most beautiful smile again. 

Please help to support this wonderful hospital. The staff are amazing and I couldn't do their jobs in a million years.
