Virtual 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon · 4 October 2020 ·

Story

With just 5 weeks to prepare Alex and I have decided there is no time like the present to complete a marathon.

On Sunday 4th October 2020 we will be taking part in the virtual 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon #The40thRace

Our marathon will take us along 26.2 miles of the Pilgrim’s Way to Canterbury.

Entering this late you can be sure that we will be walking/skipping the majority, but a marathon is a marathon nonetheless. The London Marathon is a bucket list challenge that we hope to be lucky enough to tick off and run one day, but for now this will be a good warm up.

Our marathon will be in memory of Mummy Peters and is a part of our continued fundraising efforts for the charity which supported Mum throughout her 25 year battle with cancer, The Peggy Wood Foundation

Peggy began raising funds in 1980 when her grandson was diagnosed with leukaemia aged 2. Appalled by the lack of medical equipment to treat him in his home town, Peggy began what would become a long campaign to equip Maidstone Hospital with life-saving equipment for their cancer patients. From 1980 until her death in 2006 she raised £3.5 million through her charity. She helped set up the area's first self-referral breast screening service for women over 40 and an ambulance service to take sick children to and from London for treatment. In April 2004, Maidstone Hospital unveiled its £3 million breast care centre, which was named after Mrs Wood as a tribute to her efforts.

Without this charity there is no doubt that Mum would not have received the support and treatment that she did and that I would have grown up without her in my life.

Please donate what you can to help ensure others can live healthier for longer and to give families and friends the opportunity to make precious memories together.

Thank you!

xXx
