50km CHARITY SPIN BIKE RIDE · 9 December 2018

Chigwell Riding Trust was the first riding centre for people with special needs in the world. It has been established in Chigwell for sixty years. Riding instruction is given to people of all ages and abilities. The riding centre has approximately 160 riders each week.

Story

Chigwell Riding Trust for Special Needs are one of the leading specialised horse riding centres in the country. For over 50 years, they’ve continued to provide an amazing experience for adults and children that have physical or learning disabilities.

They do not receive state aid and rely on the goodwill of the local community – they are a charity that thoroughly deserves our support.

Andrew first encountered Chigwell Riding Trust in 1982 while volunteering as an assistant (and stable hand!) as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. A generation later, and our son Tom (age 25), is directly enjoying the immeasurable benefit and sense of independence that horse riding can bring to a disabled person.

We would like to raise awareness (and some cash too!) for such a worthwhile cause - and appreciate your generosity.

Please support our 50km ride on indoor spin bikes at 10:15 on Sunday 9 December 2018 at Virgin Active, Repton Park, by making a donation.

Every £1 makes a difference:

  • £400 buys a specially adapted saddle
  • £800 pays to shoe 15 ponies for six weeks
  • £1,500 covers the Christmas hay delivery

Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity.

Thank you.

Jacquie and Andrew.
