Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
I am fundraising for Beat -a charity I personally volunteer for and a cause that is very close to my heart.
Lockdown has ripped away the structure and support that enables people to fight their eating disorder. Appointments are being cancelled, routines are thrown off, and support networks of family and friends are torn apart. And in isolation, the eating disorder voice that tells people they are alone is louder and stronger than ever.
With your support, the Helpline can continue taking calls from people struggling with an eating disorder. When their usual safety nets have been cut and people feel completely alone, your gift could provide them with a call to Beat – the lifeline they desperately need.
