Brighton Half Marathon 2022 · 27 February 2022 ·
After many years of running without a purpose, I decided to do my first half marathon... Whilst quarantining cos Miss Rona, I think I must've been in some sort of hallucinatory sweat because training over the next 9 weeks (while traveling for work) won't be easy! But, I wanted to start off 2022 in the way I mean to go on and move for causes I care about. Movement has increasingly become a huge part of my life and intersects with so many things I enjoy / care about!
On Christmas eve last year, my mum had a breast cancer scare. Whilst she is okay for now, it was nerve-wracking to have to be separated whilst she went through operation and radiotherapy. As most people who know me will know, I'm obsessed with my wonderful motttther. Throughout this time and the stress of Covid, I didn't want to ask her more questions or disturb friends that had gone through something similar. Macmillan was brilliant at de-demystifying the terminology and process so wanted to give back in a small way. So, I'm running the Brighton Half Marathon as part of their fundraising team!
At Macmillan, we give people with cancer everything we’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are our worries. We’re doing whatever it takes.
