I am not a runner!

In fact running is the last thing you would find me doing prior to taking on this challenge but I am about to turn 40 and I wanted to take on a challenge that was so big it made me feel physically sick to think of it! 

I am doing this because I truly believe that we are all capable of great things and we are here to make an impact on the lives of others.

I am  doing this to show my children than when you put your mind to something, you can achieve it no matter how impossible it may seem when you start!

I am doing this to push myself past any physical and mental limit I have ever reached before...this is a huge deal for me. 

But I am also taking on this challenge with the hope I can raise enough money to fund a place on the Haven Retreat for a lady who was a victim of childhood sexual abuse so that she can start her healing journey and begin to live their life without the weight of her past on her shoulders.

Sadly I know too many people personally who have been affected by, or personally experienced sexual abuse before the age of 18.

The statistics are frightening. 1 in 4 children under 18 will experience some form or sexual abuse before they reach adulthood.

As a mother that terrifies me. 

Abuse leaves scars far deeper than what we see on the outside. Through no fault of their own victims feel incredible shame and guilt among so many other complex emotions that go on to impact the rest of their lives. 

It's not right. 

Survivors deserve to be free from that pain and guilt and live the life they were destined to live because it wasnt their fault! 

The Younique Foundation offer online and in-person support, resources and tools for victims to start their healing journeys as well as a free 4 day retreat that any woman can apply to go on.

I know a survivor who attended the retreat and it changed her life. 

More survivors should be able to have this opportunity, because every place is a life changed.

The retreat is free to attend for survivors but costs the Foundation around £2000 per person, which is why I have set my goal at that figure so that we can fund a place on the retreat for a survivor who deserves a chance to heal.
