Story

We need to raise money to fund much needed equipment to help JJ's progression; such as, an eye gazer (communication tablet), a specialised lift/stairlift to allow JJ to get upstairs and spend quality time with her sisters and be cared for (rather than down stairs on her own), and to be monitored closely, as her seizures have started up again.
Berry Telecom - info@berrytelecom.co.uk - have funded a multipurpose garden room, as the extension on our existing property was turned down - even after appeals. However, we still need a ceiling hoist track, as well as other essential items needed for her day to day life - A walker (for home use), communication switches, eye gazer and sensory toys etc.... (these are not cheap and run into the thousands), sadly because we have a mortgage and I work, we are penalised and do not ‘fit’ some of the funding criteria’s.

Jacqueline-Joan:
From birth JJ was a happy content child, reaching all milestones expected for her age. She is a pure joy to all who spent time in her company.

Sadly in January 2011 - at just the age of two JJ suffered from a severe epileptic seizure which meant she was hospitalised. During the key first few days; during which she was admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, where she stayed for a few weeks in an induced coma, whilst they tried to figure out what had happened to her...... However, once they had decided to wake her from her induced state, she was a forever changed  little girl. The seizure had left her with brain atrophy along with other complications and this has meant that she is no longer able to sit unaided, walk or talk like she used to.

She is still the happy child that she was prior to this but is now learning to communicate again via switches/communication aids as well as a few words.

She has a lot of specialist input at her school. She now uses a specialised walker which we now need to source for home, she has a specialist wheelchair, specialist seating, standing frame.

She is trying to learn to crawl now which is an amazing achievement considering all that has happened to her.

It has been a long hard and heart wrenching few years but JJs smiles have carried us through all this and now we are doing all we can to help keep her smiling and give her all we can!
