Story
Project Galgo is a charity very close to my heart. They are a small, UK based, volunteer led, not-for-profit animal welfare rescue organisation dedicated to relieving and preventing the suffering predominantly, though not exclusively, of Galgos and Podencos (Spanish sighthounds) and Salukis who are in need of care and protection, in particular by rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing.
In 2022 Matthew and I decided it was time to find a companion for our first rescue lurcher, Memphis. We stumbled across Project Galgo and were in awe of the amazing work that Helena and her small team do to rescue our beautiful, yet sadly neglected and often discarded sighthounds in Spain. Around this time Project Galgo had also joined forces with Rays of Hope – For Dogs in Bahrain, in rescuing and rehoming Saluki’s from Bahrain, with their first four due into the UK imminently. We saw the pictures of our wonderful Basha and knew he was the boy for us, a message to Project Galgo and the rest was history.
Until a couple of years ago, running (or any sort of fitness for that matter) had never been my forte. But in 2021, I discovered and found a love for CrossFit, and with that have become generally more mindful of my health and well-being, increasing my cardio endurance has been a huge focus for me. So running the Brighton Half Marathon in 2024 will be such an amazing achievement for me.
I am hoping to raise £1000 for Project Galgo and this money will be used to help save the lives of some of the most deserving animals.
