Story
Jake: One year ago I lost my grandparents. Both my Nana and Grandad played a huge part in my life, and they were always there when I needed them. Unfortunately, following my grandad's death on the 10th of January 2012, my nana lost her battle with cancer, just 13 days later. My nana raised money for charity during her battle with cancer. I want to raise money for cancer research so nobody has to feel the way my family have through losing loved ones because of cancer.
Rach: Mike Hancock was my running coach for the past 6 years. I relied on him for everything, from my training to general advice on my life. He filled a role beyond any expectations, I seen him as a Grandad. He has dedicated the majority of his life as a teacher and followed his a passion in athletics right to the very end of his life. In the last few days of his life, my training group went to visit him in the hospice, even then he had the athletics weekly magazine at his bedside! He is true role model and was an inspiration to many. For the precious 6 years I shared with him, he never once moaned, and wouldn't want me to make a fuss so I am doing this bike ride in his memory. It will be a tough ride and I will have to work hard to complete it, mirroring his training sessions!
