Liam Ralph&I are doing this challenge in memory of our handsome little fighter Jakub Ralph. Jakub was born 6 week early and from then on it has not been easy for our entire family, Jakub was diagnosed with Menkes Disease at weeks old it took doctors by surprise as this condition is very rare. Menkes Disease is mostly common in boys 1 in 250,000 get it and even rarer is girls 1 in 500,000 get this disease. The disease itself is awful. Jakub was on copper injections as active treatment for the condition he was also fed by an NG tube aslo on 8 medications 2x a day. Jakub had no muscle tone at all so it was literally like holding a new born baby just a very heavier one!! Jakub got very poorly in December 2013, doctors found fluid and old blood clots on his brain, he had to have 3 brain sugerys. in January 2014 i was told Jakub had basically 24/48 hours to live as he was very critical, we went on to shooting star children hospice in Hampton to spend our last few days with our handsome boy well as what we thought, we rushed a wedding within 24 hours for our baby to be with us at our wedding. It was touch and go with Jakub for a couple of days but 2 days passed we had to take each day as it comes....then 2 months had passed!! he was always proving doctors wrong but this was incredible we couldn't believe it. The staff at shooting star children's hospice was amazing really helped us all through it, we then went on to go home in April'2014 Jakub then become really poorly and had to go back to shooting star and passed away on the 29th April our my arms.
