John O'Groats to Lands End · 2 April 2010

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Hello everyone, in 2001 Aaron Clarkson's dad, Ian, was diagnosed with Parkinsons. This year Ian asked if the 3 of us (James Straw, Mark Cotton and Aaron Clarkson) would help him raise some money for the Parkinson's charity, Parkinson's UK over the course of 2010. Naturally there was no hesitation and we began some planning.

After much discussion we decided that we wanted to do something big, something truly challenging that would push us to the limits. One challenge stood out, but climbing mount everest was too easy, so we figured we would stay closer to home and take on the monster journey of cycling from John O Groats to Lands End, a journey of approximately 1000 miles.

This event has been taken on by cyclists for many years with the traditional route being from Lands End up to John O Groats. There is no real explanation for why we want to do it the other way round other than to take on the challenge a different way.

We are beginnig our epic journey on April 2nd and we aim to arrive in Lands End within 14 days. This is a challenge for any hardened cyclist and in our trio of amigos 2 are raw novices.

So please dig deep and donate now.
