Australian Wildlife Conservancy is the biggest private (not for profit) owner and/or manager of land for conservation in Australia. As a leader in the field, our mission is the effective conservation of all Australian native animal species and the habitats in which they live.

Story

I'm walking the 230 km Larapinta Trail in central Australia over 15 days in June 2021. The trail follows the rugged spine of the West Macdonnell Ranges with temperatures at this time of year ranging from sub-zero to mid-20s Celsius. For bushwalkers, the reward comes in the form of the spectacular landscape and brilliant night skies. If you're interested, you can read about it in this recent ABC News article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-05-27/the-birth-of-the-larapinta-trail/100035638.

I'm doing this as a solo, self-supported trek which means I'll be carrying everything that I need for this epic 15-day trek in my 60L backpack; while aiming to keep the pack weight below 18 kg.

I'm hoping that my walk will raise awareness (and a few dollars!) for the important work that the AWC is doing. With your generous support, we can help fund the protection of land under AWC’s Indigenous partnership projects. Through these projects, the AWC works hand-in-hand with Traditional Owners to control key threats and protect Australia’s wild places.
