Story

I am
delighted to be running the London Marathon in 2019 on behalf of The Back Up Trust who have made a difference to so many lives including Doug Gorman. Please read Doug’s story below.

I met Doug Gorman in 2014 when I started working with him, he is a passionate and motivated individual. Every day was a challenge for him but I never heard him moan once even though he was on crutches. From 2012 to 2014 Doug had 9 operations for a condition called Syringomyelia  (This is more common in dogs then in humans) after the 8th operation the surgeons were still unable to remove the cyst from his spin. On May 15th 2014 Doug walked into hospital on crutches for his 9th operation to try and have the growth removed from his spin but unfortunately the growth had wrapped itself around his spinal cord and there was nothing the surgeons were able to do. This led to Doug being confined to a wheel chair. Since the operation Doug has been in contact with Back Up Trust who have supported him and his family through this tough time. Thanks to the Back Up Trust Doug was able to go on adventure holiday allowing him to participate in horse riding, abseiling, swimming, cycling, kayaking and many more outdoor activities something he never thought he would even be able to do.

I'd be grateful for your sponsorship so that Back-Up can continue to help people who have Spinal Cord Injuries
