It was always going to be difficult to get charity sponsorship for a Solent swim before the event because it's so weather dependant, but it's done now so I don't feel guilty asking for money!

I was saddened earlier this year when one of my best friends lost his mum to cancer and having lost both of my parents to cancer too I decided my swim should be for Macmillan, who provide such great support to people in difficult times.

My swim was from the beach at Lee on Solent across to Osborne Bay, just east of Cowes on 22 September, not the shortest cross Solent swim at a distance of about 4 miles.  It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and I have a fine wetsuit rash all around my neck now to show for it!
