Cornerstone offers the hand of friendship to women who have been deceived, betrayed and trafficked and who are working for “Madams”, so that there is someone that they can turn to when they need     emotional support. As the relationship grows between Cornerstone and the women, and they begin to trust again, we counsel them,    addressing past issues of abuse and hurt, and present issues of debt, addictions and abusive relationships. 

Cornerstone has the opportunity of educating these women on      various health-related issues, and sees them develop and maintain a hygienic environment in and around their homes. We also seek to educate them about the harmful consequences of their livelihood on their health and their earnings, which could also affect their families. We see this as an opportunity to deter them from continuing in the trade.

The lifestyle of the trafficked women leaves their children open to possible malnutrition. To prevent this, we can make sure they have at least one balanced meal a day with the help of one of our partners. We also aim to teach the women healthy food preparation, and quick-to-cook recipes, which will benefit them with their children.
