The Great North Air Ambulance Service keeps families together by saving lives. We provide critical care to the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Story

On the 23rd September 2010 I will be travelling, with 15 friends, to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and highest free standing mountain in the World, standing at 5,859 meters (19,340 feet). We are in a party of 16 friends all of whom will be raising money for various charities.

I am raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance, who provide emergency medical cover for the North of England, North Yorkshire and Cumbria, an area of approximately 5500 square miles, with a population of 3.5 million people.

This fantastic charity has helped many people across our region and has proven time and time again that helicopters are vital for the transportation of time-critical injured or ill patients to specialising hospitals. The Great North Air Ambulance Service receives no government or lottery funding and relies solely on the generosity of the general public.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I would be very grateful if you would sponsor me - any amount, no matter how small will be hugely appreciated. I will report back after the event.

Best wishes

James Carver
