My lovely mum died of cancer in November 2010 and is missed every day.  Before she became ill she was healthy, busy, vibrant and the heart of our family.  Cancer took her away from the people who love her and took away the chance for her to meet my daughter, her granddaughter, who was born only a few months after she died.

If effective treatments had been available she might still be here to see her grandchildren grow up, and my daughter would have known her laugh, her cuddles and her wonderful cooking.

I am cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats this summer to raise money for Cancer Research so that other families have the joy of keeping the people they love with them for longer.  I will be cycling with my old friend Rich Crossley, who is also raising money for Cancer Research, he sadly lost his older sister last year.  We are setting off on Wednesday 21st June, carrying all our equipment including tents and plan to arrive in John O'Groats on Friday 7th July.
