Over the course of the first weekend of July we (Allen Ervine, Mark Devlin and I) will be taking on the 4x4x48 running challenge with the aim of raising some much-needed funds for Tommy’s and the families they support. Tommy’s is a charity organisation committed to saving babies’ lives. They fund pioneering research and support families through every part of the pregnancy journey.
The 4x4x48 challenge brought to life by American ultramarathon runner David Goggins comprises of a four-mile run every four hours over a forty-eight hour period. All too often we hear of families experiencing troubles along the pregnancy journey and we would like to support them by taking on this challenge.
The first run will begin at midnight on Saturday, 2nd July with further four-mile stints every four hours over the course of the weekend, finishing with a final run at 8pm on Sunday, 3 July. We’re hoping you’ll be able to support us over the weekend and donate where you can for this fantastic cause.
A word from Tommy’s…
“We're a pregnancy charity working to make the UK the safest place in the world to give birth, supported by people who refuse to accept that a baby's death is just 'one of those things'. Every parent has the right to a healthy pregnancy and baby. As a charity for premature babies and those who have experienced baby loss, we research causes and treatments so we can make pregnancy and birth safer for all.
We offer a wide range of resources, tools and services for families who experience baby loss or premature birth. We are passionate about breaking the stigma that surrounds miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, termination for medical reasons and neonatal loss and share the stories of those who can sometimes feel silenced by society.”
