Story

When I first moved to Cambridge three years ago, one of the things that struck and shocked me instantly was the sheer number of people who were homeless and sleeping rough. How could it be that one of the most well-known cities in the world, with one of the most famous and richest universities have this problem? I have always wanted to find a good way to help these people and I've always wanted to challenge myself to running a half-marathon. So I thought "why not combine the two!?"

I read about the work Wintercomfort do, and found it incredibly heartwarming. They provide Welfare Services, where those most in need can get a free hot meal, as well as shower and wash their clothes. They also provide drop in sessions on housing and health as well as providing a programme of activities and social enterprises designed to teach, train and build self-esteem. These sessions and training opportunities are vital to help people get back into work, back into a home and back into enjoying their life.

I feel very proud that Wintercomfort are allowing me to represent them in this race, and any donation, no matter the amount, will be incredibly appreciated. Hopefully together we can help those less fortunate than ourselves get back on their feet.
