Story
When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.
Hello!!
Welcome to my JustGiving page.
I am a 23 year old from the South-West of England. Having recently graduated from university with an English Literature degree, I have chosen to leave behind the many hundreds of job opportunities* that have arisen from my choice of degree and ride my bike around the world. I got into bikes and bike touring after cycle touring around Europe with my dad.
*none so far....
Last summer I rode across Europe; this summer I rode across America and now I am riding unsupported around the world, living out of my tent and sleeping in bushes. Although strenuous, I reckon the best way to see the world is by bike! I like observing the slow changes in landscape, people, food, time zone and climate that go unnoticed when travelling by train, bus or plane! We can all look at a map and say that the world is really big, but I need to go and check.... Nowhere is far away any more; everywhere can be accessed by various means of motorised transport that travel TO places and leave out everywhere in between. But essentially I just like riding my bike!
I am raising money for the Stroke Association to support the incredible work they do. I was 17 when my mum had a stroke; I really barely knew what a stroke was, or how it would affect out family, so I phoned the Stroke Association helpline for advice. My mum is all good now; we have run a few half marathons together since for the same cause!
