Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Friends, family and colleagues. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been brought out retirement!  Well just for a very important event that about 10 of us from my past employer Mycom OSI are going to do from 12 to 15 Sept. - ride from our office in Slough to the Eiffel Tower in Paris!  We call ourselves The Blazing Saddles - not that original but after each training ride I can tell you we know we have been in the ‘saddle’. We will cycle to Newhaven the first day and ferry over night to Dieppe (only 5 hours though) before 2 days to Paris with an overnight stop. About 220 miles all together with a combination of canal paths, disused railway tracks avoiding public roadways as much as possible.  Should be fun (we hope).

Since we are doing this, we decided to make it more than just a long ride and work to raise money for Marie Curie the UK Cancer Trust in memory of the recent passing of Nuria, the wife of our CEO, at a too young of age.  They do incredible work particularly with nursing in support to those with cancer and their families.  I know that almost every family has been touched by cancer so you know how important this work is. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.

This is my first time I have undertaken something like this asking for sponsorship but given it’s importance please contribute what you can. It is much appreciated.

You can check the above link for updates on our progress in preparation and during the actual ride.  Also send the link around to others if you would be most kind.

My thanks
Jim
