Story

Some of you may know us and spoken to us but Harry and I are both rugby players (he is a full back and I am a second row) and we are looking to push ourselves to the very edge.

When I first met Harry I had not been to a gym in about 5 years and now I go most days. He has pushed me and in turn we have always tried to do things that push ourselves to our physical limit. Therefore what better way to do this than try and complete an ultramarathon!!!

Some of you may know all this having read our blog https://amateurultrarunning.wordpress.com/ as we try to document our progress. However, it is not just pushing ourselves but instead about trying to raise money for a truly incredible charity: The Matt Hampson Foundation. The following extract from our most recent blog post details why we are doing this and why we are looking for you to help us:

"Yet, these sports do sometimes go wrong as all things do in life. It takes one bad scrum, one bad delivery, a nasty collision and your whole life can change. As such we are looking to raise at least £1,000 for the Matt Hampson Foundation (http://www.matthampson.co.uk/). Matt, is an individual who had one of these moments, one bad scrum, one moment that changed everything and his life was never the same again. However, he has not let this dampen his outlook on life and his foundation undertakes incredible work to help those who have suffered serious injury or disabilities. His support of others is incredible and his mantra: “Get Busy Living” is something we can all learn from. I know I have been inspired by his story and that of Henry Fraser (http://www.henryfraser.org/), someone who has worked closely with the foundation and as such we want to help.

Please, if you have time today look at their stories and realise that life is incredibly fragile and whilst we should live it to the full there are times when people will need help to be picked back, recover or even adjust. As such we would love to ask you to sponsor us so we can raise money to help this incredible cause."
