James' Marathon fundraiser

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
Who am i fundraising for?
Anthony Nolan. They are a great charity who take action to save the lives of people with blood cancers, by matching donors to those in need of a lifesaving transplant.
What is my connection to the charity?
I first worked with them at university, getting people to sign up for the stem cell register, felt slightly guilty about it and decided that I should put myself down on the register. Fast forward three years and whilst my father was going through his own chemotherapy (non-hodgkins lymphoma) I got the call up to donate some stem cells. I did this last September and a few months ago got the great news that the person I donated to is alive and well!
Why am I fundraising?
To make sure that those with blood cancers in need of stem cell transplants can get them. Also, to raise awareness of the stem cell register, as without donors there are no lifesaving transplants!
Do I like running?
Not really. I've never been much of a runner and haven't trained prior to this, but I love a challenge so stay tuned and witness a slow descent into knee pain, brightly coloured drinks and very short shorts.
Thanks for checking out my JustGiving page! Feel free to send me a message if you'd like to know more about the cause, and of course, any donations would be greatly appreciated!
