Story

Hello all,

I'm doing a sponsored walk of the Dales Way from Windermere to Ilkley, all 81 miles of it in 3 days (17th-19th September), for many personal reasons.

Growing up I lost my Grandad and Grandma to cancer, which my Grandad spent his final days in the of Manorlands Hospice. Then 13 years ago my Dad discovered a sarcoma on his leg. With treatment we thought he'd won the fight against it. However, sadly March last year, on the eve of the covid lockdown we got the devastating news that the sarcoma had returned in Dad's lungs and bones. Watching Dad fight this illness again over the last year+ during this Covid-19 crisis has inspired me to do something for charity, so here we are!

A small group of friends have stepped forward to accompany me along the way. The plan is to set off early on day one from Windermere to Dent covering 31 miles. Day two is Dent to Grassington 34 miles and finally day 3 Grassington to Ilkley 16 miles.

Sue Ryder Manorlands is a charity very close to my heart and is a great cause for helping people with cancer.

Every donation is greatly appreciated no matter how small.

Many thanks

James Hall
